Located in Niagara on the Lake, on the lower Niagara Parkway.

The house was built in the early 1800’s by John McFarland. After John said “no” to the Americans when they wanted the house in the 1800’s, he was imprisoned on the USA side until after the war, at which point he came back to his house which was in shambles, and he was crushed over it! His sons would restore it and reside in it until it was given to the Niagara Parks Commission.

There have been visitors to the house who report hearing ghostly “hushing” sounds as well as footsteps in the house. One woman reported seeing McFarland’s ghost standing by the fireplace mantle.
